<p>The coordinator of the EENCE Citizenship Education Caravan in Azerbaijan shared his impressions of the Caravan events in his country.</p>

<p>&#8220;It was a very peculiar Caravan. I think that the greatest success of the Caravan is not to wait, but to find needed societies and work with them taking into account their needs and interests in the field of citizenship education.</p>

<p>What impressed me most during the Caravan was the format and method of the Caravan. Namely the &#8220;Caravan&#8221; format &#8211; to move intensively from city to city to work with different societies on different topics and to get involved in the problems and challenges of citizenship education.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="937" height="1024" src="http://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.26-e1694121194159-937x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1037" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.26-e1694121194159-937x1024.jpg 937w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.26-e1694121194159-275x300.jpg 275w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.26-e1694121194159-768x839.jpg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.26-e1694121194159.jpg 960w" sizes="(max-width: 937px) 100vw, 937px" /></figure>

<p>I would like to note that if the Caravan wad to be held again, I would like to see it in a more international format. Namely to move from a national Caravan to an international Caravan. That is, the movement of the Caravan team from country to country in a common region, respecting the sequence of topics, the logic of the program and goals.</p>

<p>And I also want to say that the idea of the Caravan can be continued further, as this project was able to bring the voice of civic education to different corners of the common region of the partnership countries. And it remained in the memory and hearts of many citizens who are in favor of the development and promotion of citizenship education in the common region.</p>

<p>The final events of the Caravan in this country took place on 8 September in Goygol. Here, the Caravan team held four events for local residents and activists.</p>

<p>The first Session was the &#8220;Inclusion for Peace&#8221; session conducted by local expert <strong>Khalida Hamidova</strong>, Ph.D. She explained to the participants what the concept of inclusion is and why it is important for the society.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.12.32-1024x768.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-1066" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.12.32-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.12.32-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.12.32-768x576.jpeg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.12.32.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>After clarifying the concept of peace, the relationship between peace and inclusivity was explained and a game was played accordingly. </p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote">
<p>Peace encompasses not only the absence of violence but also the presence of justice, cooperation and harmony</p>
<cite>Khalida Hamidova</cite></blockquote>

<p>Second session &#8211; &#8220;Dialogue techniques and strategies to deal with conflict&#8221; was held by <strong>Kateryna Zeziulina</strong>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="768" height="1024" src="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.13.54-768x1024.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-1067" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.13.54-768x1024.jpeg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.13.54-225x300.jpeg 225w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.13.54.jpeg 960w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>

<p>At the beginning of the session, the participants, who were divided into groups, were given tasks on certain cases by the trainer. Conflict situations were described in the cases. </p>

<p>To resolve the conflict, the groups held discussions and some ideas were put forward.</p>

<p>Later, Kateryna spoke about “Thomas-Killman&#8217;s model of conflict”. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-pullquote"><blockquote><p>Using interesting examples, she taught the participants about the 4 types in this model: avoid (turtle), attack (shark), except (bear), cooperate (owl), compromise (fox).</p></blockquote></figure>

<p>One of the interesting trainings of the day was the “Conflict Management” session held by <strong>Zarif Bakirova</strong>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.13.10-1024x768.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-1068" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.13.10-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.13.10-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.13.10-768x576.jpeg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_2023-09-08-21.13.10.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Ms. Zarif first organized an energizer among young people and showed an example of misunderstanding, which is one of the causes of conflict.</p>

<p>Then co-facilitator <strong>Namaz Karimov</strong> gave information about the types of conflict. At this time, he brought examples of inner, inter and complex conflicts and held a discussion with the participants.</p>

<p>He spole about the Determan 4C method, which shows the stages of conflict resolution, the expert shared the 4 stages of this method with the participants. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-pullquote"><blockquote><p>These stages were: Commitment, Communication, Companionship and Conflict Resolution.</p></blockquote></figure>

<p>Participants gained both practical and theoretical knowledge about how to resolve conflict situations by holding discussions.</p>

<p>The last session of the day and the project &#8220;Voices of youth: Azerbaijan&#8221; was held by <strong>Vitaly Nikanovich</strong>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="http://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Vital-e1694201172678-1024x768.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-1070" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Vital-e1694201172678-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Vital-e1694201172678-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Vital-e1694201172678-768x576.jpeg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Vital-e1694201172678.jpeg 1050w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>At the beginning of the session, he asked the participants to tell 3 facts about themselves and one of the facts was fake. Other participants had to clarify the fake information based on body language.</p>

<p>Later, an important masterclass was held with the participation of expert body language.</p>

<p>And he asked the participants to give a 30-second speech on &#8220;3 problems of Azerbaijani youth&#8221; using the knowledge they learned in this session.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-pullquote"><blockquote><p>Young people made their speeches and spoke on topics such as gender inequality, unemployment, the negative impact of social media, weak networking, and low level of education.</p></blockquote></figure>

<p>The Citizenship Education Caravan worked in Azerbaijan from 4 to 8 September. </p>

<p>During this time, the caravan team travelled hundreds of kilometres and visited 5 cities. </p>

<p>More than 200 people took part in the events of the Caravan in Azerbaijan. </p>

<p>Now Ukraine is taking up the baton. Caravan events will be held here from 17 to 22 September.</p>

<p>Ms Khalida used multiple active tasks. In this session, the first task was word combination and storytelling. </p>

<p>Participants performed using this method to develop their teaching and speaking skills. Then the expert talked about the importance of body language for trainers and explained the body lamguage methods that world leaders often use. At the end of the first session, they played a spider web game. The game was designed for the development of reflection.</p>

<p>During the second session Khalida Hamidova continued with introduction of the variety of non-formal education methods. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="937" height="1024" src="http://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.26-e1694121194159-937x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1037" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.26-e1694121194159-937x1024.jpg 937w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.26-e1694121194159-275x300.jpg 275w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.26-e1694121194159-768x839.jpg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.26-e1694121194159.jpg 960w" sizes="(max-width: 937px) 100vw, 937px" /></figure>

<p>They were different exercises for the opening of the educational event, team building, group work division and sharing information. </p>

<p>The methods were not only presented, but actually were run within the group of participants. It helped to understand the step-by-step instruction and to reflect about their usage in the work of young facilitators in future.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/tr-1024x768.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-1041" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/tr-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/tr-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/tr-768x576.jpeg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/tr-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/tr.jpeg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Participants enjoyed the activity a lot. They actively suggested ways how to modify and adapt those methods for other different activities. </p>

<p>Co-facilitator <strong>Kateryna Zeziulina</strong> also shared her experience and ways how she use those methods in Ukraine. </p>

<p>The group came to the conclusion that interactive methods are good for making the educational process more fun and engaging as well as helpful to discuss important topics (for example inclusion) in more understandable way.</p>

<p>The third session of the day was &#8220;How to Distinguish Fact from Opinion&#8221;, conducted by expert <strong>Illia Gurianov</strong>. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.40-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1032" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.40-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.40-300x225.jpg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.40-768x576.jpg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.50.40.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The main goal of the session was to teach the participants to distinguish between fact and opinion and conduct discussions based on debate. </p>

<p>At the beginning of the session, co-facilitator <strong>Vitaly Nikanovich</strong> organized an interesting energizer that developed communication and active participation among the participants. Later, expert Illia gave information about certain methods to distinguish between opinion and fact. Based on the information learned from this training, a debate was organized among the participants.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-pullquote"><blockquote><p>A short excerpt from the debate:<br>Experts conducted a short discussion between those who are in favor and those who are not in favor of girls and boys studying together. One of the supporters stated that it is wrong to separate education according to gender and stated the advantage of girls and boys studying together.<br>One of the non-supporters noted that it would be better to educate boys and girls separately because there are many cases of bullying between boys and girls.<br>At the end of the session, the debate topics were discussed, and the expert gave detailed information about certain resources.</p></blockquote></figure>

<p>The last training of the day was the Form theater workshop conducted by local expert <strong>Zarif Bakirova</strong>. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1024" height="709" src="http://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Zakif-2-e1694120386555-1024x709.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1034" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Zakif-2-e1694120386555-1024x709.jpg 1024w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Zakif-2-e1694120386555-300x208.jpg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Zakif-2-e1694120386555-768x531.jpg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Zakif-2-e1694120386555.jpg 1068w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>At the beginning of the training, the trainer, who started with the energizer, first talked about the history and importance of the theater. She asked participants about their interests in theater and their attitudes toward theater in general. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="http://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.52.32-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1036" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.52.32-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.52.32-300x225.jpg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.52.32-768x576.jpg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-07-22.52.32.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Then she explained the difference between form theater and ordinary theater. In her presentation, she visually showed examples of form theater and assigned the participants to prepare a photo form theater example as a group.</p>

<p>Examples of photo forms created by groups:</p>

<p>The next stop on the route of the Azerbaijan Caravan was the town of Barda. Here too, the majority of participants in the events were young people.</p>

<p>The first training of the Caravan in Barda on the theme &#8220;Speak like Mother Teresa&#8221; was conducted by <strong>Ilya Guryanov</strong> (Russia).</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1024" height="829" src="http://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/375819791_983762429511258_6495831471322851886_n-e1694080849642-1024x829.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-1005" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/375819791_983762429511258_6495831471322851886_n-e1694080849642-1024x829.jpeg 1024w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/375819791_983762429511258_6495831471322851886_n-e1694080849642-300x243.jpeg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/375819791_983762429511258_6495831471322851886_n-e1694080849642-768x622.jpeg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/375819791_983762429511258_6495831471322851886_n-e1694080849642.jpeg 1050w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The training started with the energiser &#8220;Appointment Hours&#8221;, which helped participants to get to know each other and start a conversation on different topics.</p>

<p>Then Ilya presented two important tools for preparing an effective speech.</p>

<p>The first one allowed to test the interest and knowledge of the participants.</p>

<p>In the next tool it is necessary to make a matrix consisting of four sections: target audience, desired action, message and method, and then prepare a speech according to it.</p>

<p>During the team work, participants practised using these tools by preparing speeches on the topic of gender equality for high school students.</p>

<p>At the end of the training Ilya recommended to watch the speech of Mother Teresa, who won the Nobel Prize, as an example of one of the most powerful speeches in history, and analyse it according to the matrix.</p>

<p><strong>Gulnara Ismailova</strong> (Azerbaijan), Manager of the Education Hub programme and international trainer, led the second session of the day, dedicated to social entrepreneurship.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="768" height="1024" src="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Gulnara-3-768x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1007" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Gulnara-3-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Gulnara-3-225x300.jpg 225w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Gulnara-3-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Gulnara-3.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>

<p>She spoke about the definition of social entrepreneurship, gave the best examples of stories of social entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan and other regions.</p>

<p>Then the participants joined groups, chose the problems that concern them in Barda district and created models of social businesses for them.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1024" height="1010" src="http://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Barda-e1694081098154-1024x1010.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1008" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Barda-e1694081098154-1024x1010.jpg 1024w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Barda-e1694081098154-300x296.jpg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Barda-e1694081098154-768x758.jpg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/Barda-e1694081098154.jpg 1050w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The third session of the day was dedicated to the topic of advocacy and was also led by Gulnara Ismailova.</p>

<p>The participants were explained the eight steps of the advocacy model, which they then worked through in groups, discussing possible solutions to issues important to their community.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1024" height="870" src="http://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/376477719_983762469511254_3723276286388724539_n-e1694080997566-1024x870.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-1006" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/376477719_983762469511254_3723276286388724539_n-e1694080997566-1024x870.jpeg 1024w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/376477719_983762469511254_3723276286388724539_n-e1694080997566-300x255.jpeg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/376477719_983762469511254_3723276286388724539_n-e1694080997566-768x652.jpeg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/376477719_983762469511254_3723276286388724539_n-e1694080997566.jpeg 1050w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>On 5 September, the Caravan team worked in Mingechevir. The focus of the second day of the Caravan was on the essence of citizenship education, the development of projects in this area, as well as teaching resources and materials for the development of citizenship education in school and beyond. All activities in this city took place in the premises of the local Media Centre.</p>

<p>Discussions on understanding citizenship education were framed through a pantomime theatre organised by <strong>Vitaly Nikanovich</strong>.</p>

<p>In this session, the young people also managed to convey a social message with pontonyme theater. </p>

<p>The messages that the 3 teams wanted to convey to us were: &#8220;Gender Equality&#8221;, &#8220;Segregation due to improper distribution of resources among people,&#8221; and &#8220;Indifference and disrespect among people.&#8221;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-05-23.11.20-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-970" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-05-23.11.20-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-05-23.11.20-300x225.jpg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-05-23.11.20-768x576.jpg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-05-23.11.20.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Thanks to this form, the training participants were able not only to grasp the meaning of the concept of &#8221; citizenship education&#8221;, but also to discuss the problems of society in a creative way.</p>

<p><strong>Nino Gvaramadze&#8217;s</strong> session was devoted to how to develop citizenship education projects.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="768" height="1024" src="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-05-23.11.41-768x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-971" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-05-23.11.41-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-05-23.11.41-225x300.jpg 225w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/2023-09-05-23.11.41.jpg 960w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>

<p>An expert from Georgia gave a detailed presentation on the main stages of project preparation, how their objectives are formulated and where to find resources.</p>

<p>The participants were then given the opportunity to present their project ideas on the lack of sufficient resources for youth development, animal rights, environmental cleanliness, and gender inequality.</p>

<p>For example, the group that chose the issue of lack of resources for youth development noted that most of the opportunities created in Azerbaijan are in the capital city of the country and this weakens the development of the regions.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="957" height="884" src="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_5456639590770265714_y.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-974" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_5456639590770265714_y.jpg 957w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_5456639590770265714_y-300x277.jpg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_5456639590770265714_y-768x709.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 957px) 100vw, 957px" /></figure>

<p>As a way out of this situation, the participants noted the importance of creating equal conditions for young people regardless of where they live, as well as holding educational events for regional development.</p>

<p>The final event of the Caravan in Mingechevir was the seminar &#8220;Educational resources and materials for the development of citizenship education at school and locally&#8221;, which was conducted by <strong>Kateryna Zeziulina</strong>.</p>

<p>She began the workshop by asking the participants what the goal of citizenship education is for them.</p>

<p>Young people noted that it is important to learn and prepare oneself for life in society. Among the competences important for an active citizen, they named responsibility, initiative, ability to live together, decision-making, respect, tolerance and national identity.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" width="960" height="960" src="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_5456639590770265966_y.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-975" srcset="https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_5456639590770265966_y.jpg 960w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_5456639590770265966_y-300x300.jpg 300w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_5456639590770265966_y-150x150.jpg 150w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_5456639590770265966_y-768x768.jpg 768w, https://caravan.eence.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2023/09/photo_5456639590770265966_y-600x600.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></figure>

<p>Catherine&#8217;s interactive exercises allowed participants to gain new experiences and practise some competences.</p>

<p>At the end of the seminar, Kateryna presented an overview of Council of Europe resources and materials that can help participants to further deepen their knowledge on this topic.</p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p>The Caravan is organized by a consortium of EENCE experts and organizations in the framework of the project “EENCE Citizenship Education Caravan”, funded by the Federal Agency for Citizenship Education (<strong><a href="http://bpb.de/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung / bpb</a></strong>) with funds allocated by the German Federal Foreign Office, program “Enhancing cooperation with civil society in the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia”.&nbsp;</p>
